The chocolate self-saucing pudding is an Australian favourite in many households. While the origin is unclear, what is clear that it’s a deliciously warming dessert!
Ingredients
1 cup self-raising flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbs cocoa
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup milk
2 tbs butter melted
2 drops vanilla essence
Sauce
1 3/4 cup boiling water
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 tbs cocoa
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Sift the flour, salt and cocoa into an ovenproof dish. Add in the sugar.
- Stir in the milk together with melted butter and vanilla essence.
- Mix all the sauce ingredients in a separate bowl and then pour gently over the main pudding mix.
- Bake in the oven for approximately 60 minutes.
- Serve your pudding with a dollop of double cream or a scoop of ice cream.
