Finesse your fridge
While you may already wipe your fridge’s shelves out regularly, now is a great time to pop out the door shelves and crisper compartments and give them a wash in warm soapy water. This easy home cleaning tip will help remove any nasty bacteria hiding in your fridge.
Roll out the rugs
To clean indoor rugs vacuum on both sides! Vacuuming the back will help to push trapped dirt out.
Freshen up the microwave
Place a chopped-up lemon or a few tablespoons of vinegar and 1 cup of water in a microwave-safe jug. Microwave on high for several minutes or until the water boils and the window is steamy. Let it sit to cool for 15 minutes before opening the door. Remove the jug and wipe inside and out with a sponge.
Stainless steel cleaning
If you have any stainless steel appliances, mix up a solution of 1 teaspoon of dish detergent and 1 litre of water and rub onto any marks using a microfibre cloth, going with the grain. Rinse with clean hot water and dry immediately with a clean cloth.
Clean out the oven
Cleaning the oven is one of those tasks that can often be avoided or placed in the ‘too hard’ basket. An easy and environmentally friendly oven cleaning solution is to make a paste of 3 tablespoons of baking soda mixed with 1.5 tablespoons of water. Apply the paste, let sit for 20 minutes and then wipe clean.
Look up
Sometimes our fans and lights can be overlooked during regular cleans. Grab an extendable duster and give your ceiling fans and lights a good dust.
