More than 48-tonnes raised for Foodbank

Thanks to the support of residents, clients, staff, families, friends and local businesses, Seasons latest Foodbank food drive fundraiser has raised over 48 tonnes worth of donations.

This was made up of 903kg of groceries and enough funds to bring 47,633 kg of fresh produce from the Lockyer Valley into the Foodbank warehouse.

Seasons CEO Tracey Silvester said it was wonderful to see so many people contributing to make a difference in the lives of others.

“In Australia, many of us take food for granted. But the figures show one in five Australians have experienced food insecurity in the past 12 months. This is often due to unexpected bills or expenses.

“It’s great to be able to work together to make a positive difference,” she said.

Foodbank is the largest hunger relief organisation in Australia, with Foodbank Queensland alone providing food relief to more than 200,000 people each month. Hunger is a hidden crisis in Australia. Over 4 million people experiencing food insecurity at some point every year, 22% of which are children.

Seasons’ Waterford West community made the largest donation of the Group, raising the equivalent of 26,370kg of food. The team were excited to have Nova 106.9FM come and collect their boxes.
