Fortunately, the residents of Seasons have shared their own home remedy tips* to help keep you fit this Winter – and they do not encourage storing vegetables anywhere but your crisper.
Seasons residents share the Winter immunity tips they swear by
Josie: “Feed a cold, starve a fever. Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables for energy and drink lots of water to prevent dehydration.”
Pam: “When my children caught a cold, I would put some Vicks and hot water into an old ice-cream container or bowl. They would lean over it, I would put a tea towel over their heads and they would breathe in the vapours to clear out their sinuses.”
Narelle: “I grew up on a dairy farm in Northern New South Wales, where we always got plenty of fresh air, so we were rarely sick. On the odd chance we were, mum would cook us some chicken noodle soup. It always did the trick.”
Jan: “I would say eat plenty of good food and maybe have a glass of red wine or port each night – I once heard it can be good for your blood.”
June: “Oh, I just take some Panadol. I was a country girl, so we always had fresh air and fresh food. I don’t really have any home remedies as such, but I know some people take Cod Liver Oil and Vitamin C tablets.”
Margo: “Eating carrots improves your vision and chicken soup improves a cold. Tea with honey is great for a sore throat.”
