Food Services Assistant

ROLE OVERVIEW

About the Role

Reporting to the Chef and/or Cook, the Food Services Assistant plays a key role in supporting the smooth operation of a high-volume kitchen. Responsibilities include assisting with food preparation, storage, dishwashing, and maintaining clean work areas.

We have both Permanent Part-Time (PPT) and Casual opportunities available, with 30+ hours per week on offer. Weekend availability is essential.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and monitoring all menu and food production to ensure presentation, quality product and service standards are upheld.
  • In conjunction with the Chef and/or Cook prepare, cook, and serve food according to dietary, nutritional, and cultural needs.
  • Support Chef and/or Cook to maintain, monitor, and record all Food Safety Program requirements.
  • Handle, sort, store and correctly distribute food items.
  • Follow direction toward portion control, cooking standards and wastage.
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant food and catering preparation regulations.
  • Assist with cleaning/kitchen, disposal of rubbish and housekeeping duties as required.
  • Follow and implement diet and care plan directives.

Top Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience supporting the running of commercial kitchens with volume cooking (hotels, healthcare etc) or similar environments.
  • Basic knowledge relating to all facets of food services which includes, but not limited to, chill production and planning dining service.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Maintain a positive and motivated work ethic in the kitchen.
  • Ability to follow instructions and take direction from the Cook/Chef.
  • Empathy and understanding of the needs of residents’ and their families.

Requirements

  • Due to the 24/7 nature of the business, it is reasonable to expect that Seasons employees may be requested to work on a public holiday. Where an employee has been allocated a public holiday to work, this is a request, not a requirement.
  • Level 1 National Certificate in Hospitality (Foundation Skills) and/or equivalent relevant experience in a role.
  • Food Safety handler certificate
  • Experience in commercial kitchen, preferably within an aged care environment.
  • Flexibility with hours when workload demands, across a 24/7, 365 day a year business.
  • Unrestricted Australian working rights.
  • Current national criminal check.
