About the Role
Seasons is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Chef to manage the kitchen at our Waterford West community on a part-time basis, including weekends.
Reporting to the Community Manager, the Chef is responsible for planning and delivering quality menus to a diverse range of residents, efficiently executing all catered events, and providing effective leadership to kitchen employees, while adhering to the highest food safety standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve food according to dietary, nutritional, and cultural needs.
- Review resident feedback and plan menus in advance, with cost controls in place.
- Implement and monitor all menu and food production to ensure presentation, quality product and service standards are upheld.
- Develop and evaluate food and labour costs ongoing, ensuring efficiencies.
- Maintain, monitor and record all Food Safety Program requirements.
- Train staff as required in the correct use of kitchen equipment, standards and procedures, to ensure safe food handling.
- Efficiently order food and equipment supplies.
- Ensure compliance with the relevant food and catering preparation regulations.
- Assist with cleaning/kitchen housekeeping duties as may be required.
- Attend any resident food meetings (community and/or RAC).
- Follow and implement diet and care plan directives
Top Skills
- Proven experience with volume cooking (hotels, healthcare etc) or similar environments.
- Excellent knowledge related to all facets of food services which includes, but not limited to, chill production and planning dining service.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Good computer and technology skills (laptops, smartphones, tablets etc).
- Maintain a positive and motivated work ethic in the kitchen.
- Empathy and understanding of the needs of residents’ and their families.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in hospitality and/or equivalent relevant experience in a role.
- Food handler certificate.
- 5yrs+ experience in commercial kitchen, preferably within an aged care environment.
- Flexibility with hours when workload demands, across a 24/7, 365 day a year business.
- Unrestricted Australian working rights.
- Current national police check.
