Tips and tools for easy home cleaning

Cleaning your home can seem like a daunting task and many of us often put it off for as long as possible and end up creating an even bigger job for ourselves. One of the best things you can do to avoid this is clean regularly. If you struggle with cleaning for mobility reasons, there are also plenty of tips and tools out there to make the job easier. We have combined a list of tools and tips that can make cleaning even more fun and satisfying!

Schedule a cleaning day

This is one of the best things you can do to keep your space clean. Waiting until there is a visible build-up of dirt or dust only creates more work for yourself. If you set aside one day a week to do an all-over clean, your future self will thank you! Use this day to vacuum, wipe down any surfaces, and tidy up general clutter. This way dirt and clutter is dealt with before it gets out of hand and too overwhelming. This can also be great for someone who struggles to get through a large deep clean. Wiping down surfaces weekly takes a lot less effort than scrubbing away at weeks of dirt.

Make cleaning tools accessible

Keeping cleaning products and tools easily accessible is one of the key factors for easy home cleaning. For example, try keeping a sponge and a squeegee in your shower. Every time you have a shower, give the surfaces a quick wipe down and squeegee away any left-over water. This will prevent build up and limit the need for a deep clean down the track. The same goes for keeping a simple surface spray and wipe on the bench in your kitchen. Having this readily available and easily accessed means you’re more likely to quickly wipe down your area after each use.

Mobility-friendly cleaning

Not everyone can easily clean their home. You may be limited in getting into high and low places, or your joints may struggle with movements such as vacuuming or scrubbing. If this is the case, there is no need to feel defeated by cleaning. There are plenty of tools on the market to assist with this! Some of our favourites are:

1.     Robot vacuums

These are fantastic for keeping your place clean on an everyday basis, and assist with easy home cleaning. Not only do robot vacuums clean of their own accord, but they eliminate the need for you to physically vacuum your house. This means no more struggling to lug the vacuum cleaner around and trying to get into all the nooks and crannies.

2.     Extendable dusters

Extendable dusters come with adjustable handles to make the duster longer or shorter. These make dusting so much easier and assists in reaching difficult spots. This is great for low-mobility cleaning, making sure you don’t miss any high or low spots.

3.     Creeper seats

While these are traditionally used by mechanics, introducing a creeper seat into your cleaning routine could be a lifesaver. They allow you to sit on the seat and use your feet to move around while you clean. The storage underneath means you can put any cleaning products there. This limits your need for getting up and walking around or going back and forth between cupboards while cleaning. You can buy then from many different places and they come in all different shapes and sizes.

Nobody should be limited by their mobility and using these tips and tools can turn cleaning into a fun and manageable activity. If your space is clean, your mind will be clear and your space will be inviting and stress-free.
