Golden syrup dumplings

For a warming dessert, you can’t beat these golden syrup dumplings. Better yet, they’re super easy to make with just a few simple ingredients.

While the cold is biting outside, whipping up a batch of these golden syrup dumplings will soon have you thankful for winter nights and have you reminiscing about enjoying these as a kid.



Dumpling ingredients

1 cup self-raising flour

An egg

1 dessertspoon butter

Splash of milk

Pinch of Salt

Syrup sauce ingredients

1 cup water

½ cup sugar

1 dessertspoon butter

2 tablespoons golden syrup



  1. Rub the butter into the flour and salt, then add the beaten egg.
  2. Add the milk for a semi-runny dough and a light fluffy consistency. Set this aside.
  3. Place the syrup ingredients into a large saucepan. Heat until boiling.
  4. Add tablespoons of dough mixture into syrup sauce.
  5. Cover and cook the dumplings for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Serve while hot!
